Two more men arrested in attack on Pro Bowler

By Gregg K. Kakesako

LAST UPDATED: 03:48 p.m. HST, Jan 31, 2013

Two more men have been arrested in connection with a fight early Friday morning at a Waterfront Plaza nightclub that sidelined an NFL player with head injury and stitches, forcing him to miss Sunday’s Pro Bowl.

The men were arrested for third-degree misdemeanor assault. Both are scheduled to be arraigned in District Court Feb. 25.

Arrested at 3:10 a.m. Friday, a few hours after the fight at the M Nightclub at 500 Ala Moana Blvd., was a 40-year-old Kaneohe resident. He was arrested for third degree assault and posted $150 bail on Friday night.

On Monday, a 25-year-old Waimanalo man was arrested on two counts of third-degree assault. He posted $200 bail.

M Nightclub part-owner Michael Miske, Jr. was arrested and charged with second-degree assault Sunday. Miske's lawyer said NFL players at the club were being unruly and rude Thursday night, and that there were reports of players smoking marijuana.

Miske is free after posting $250,000 bail. He is scheduled to make a court appearance Monday.

Police said Miske, 38, hit Washington Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams on the head with a dangerous instrument, reportedly a Champagne bottle.

Williams received multiple stitches.

Thomas Otake, Miske's lawyer, said "certain NFL players" at the club were "unruly, rude and disrespectful to the female waitresses and other customers."

He said club management and security asked the football players to leave after "certain players became physically aggressive and started a fight."

"Club personnel and security did their best to protect staff, customers and themselves," Otake said.

Otake would not identify the football players.

The police arrest report did not say whether the two suspects were employed by Miske.

An NFL spokesman declined to respond to Otake’s comment, deferring all questions to Honolulu police.

If I drink, smoke pot, grope your daughter, push you around and threaten you then call me a goon. You can also hit me on the head with a bottle of champagne as well. I won't cry about it and press charges because I do have pride. Not defending or judging people I don't know but looking at a situation that might draw a similar reaction from myself. Your actions will draw reactions. Be accountable for your own actions......continuation of a prior thread. The articles about this incident draws just as much flak as the tax robbing train.

The writer of this article needs to pay closer attention to the titles he uses. "Pro bowler" is an athlete that bowls. I think he meant to say "Pro Bowl player".

"Pro Bowler" = Pro Bowl player.

"Pro bowler" = professional bowler.

Difference is in (non)capitalization of "bowl."

P.S. It's "athlete WHO bowls," not "athlete THAT bowls," unless the athlete is non-human.

fish, plain and simple reasoning, for anyone other than another 200 pound pro football player to pick a fight with one he better have a good reason. Regardless if Miske is a criminal he may have had to defend himself in his establishment. You wait for the ape to grab you first its lights out for you. Cracking em on the head with a champagne bottle may pacify the brute before the cops come. Maybe this happened maybe not. Warped reasoning and lisping, I don't think so.

Another bar brawl, so what's new. Well, one of the principals has a criminal history that won't quit, and that what makes this incident, new worthy, plus the other involved is a pro-bowler who was supposed to have been on his best behavior after having had a brush with the NFL disciplinary board. The outcome was that the pro-bowler was handicapped by a cranium injury requiring a number of stiches, that precluded him from performing in the much maligned pro-bowl game. Ho-hum.

Big burly doormen and nightclub security couldn't handle the melee so leave it to a little runt with a champagne bottle to handle the situation? Doesn't pass the logic test. Otake would not identify the other players because it didn't happen. The two arrested were probably friends of Miske.

yes. Highly unlikely that rich NFL players would risk their careers by doing what the felon Miske said they did. Frankly. it is another anti-black racist outbreak. I see a lot of that in Waikiki by locals.

I am all for second chances. But this guys has several convictions. In one case he threatened a child who was in school. He allegedly drove around the campus threatening. All he rreceived for all his convictions were probation. Now, I don't know about you but if I was the father of that child, I would be outraged if he only received probation given that he has other criminal convictions. Whether or not the victim was doing the things that Mr. Miske's attorney has alleged does not give him the green light to hit him ovet the head with a dangerous instrument. All he had to do was call the police to handle the alleged misbehaving customers.
