Hawaii picked sixth in Big West preseason baseball poll

In its first season in the Big West Conference, the Hawaii baseball team was picked to finish sixth in the preseason coaches poll released today.

Cal State Fullerton was picked to repeat as champions, followed by UC Irvine and Long Beach State.

Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara, Hawaii, UC Riverside, Cal State Northridge, UC Davis and Pacific round out the rest of the poll.

The Rainbows open their season at home Feb. 15 against Oregon.

Sounds about right. But if UHawaii can find production in the middle of the hitting lineup and pitchers find their grove in the spring, it could make for some interesting games at home. UHawaii will be better on the road. no more trips to Nevada or La Tech. But the California teams are good too. I hope the corners, esp. first base hits (with power), and the catching is solid.
