Nightclub owner pleads not guilty in assault on Pro Bowler

By Gregg K. Kakesako

LAST UPDATED: 04:58 p.m. HST, Feb 04, 2013

Minority nightclub owner Michael Miske Jr. today denied assaulting Washington Redskins tackle Trent Williams at a Waterfront Plaza nightclub early Jan. 25.

Miske, 38, was charged Jan. 28 with second-degree assault. He is out on $250,000 bail.

After entering a plea of not guilty, Miske’s trial was set for the week of April 8 before Circuit Judge Michael Wilson.

According to police, Miske struck Williams, who was in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl, on the head with a dangerous instrument, reportedly a Champagne bottle, during a fight. The incident took place at Miske’s M Nightclub. Williams was unable to participate in the game due to his injuries.

Two other men — Michael Buntendah and John Stancil — also were charged with misdemeanor assault in connection with the fight. They will be arraigned in District Court at the end of the month.

After the fight, police seized the Waterfront Plaza’s surveillance digital video recorder under a search warrant. The Honolulu Liquor Commission also is investigating the nightclub.

Miske, who is also the owner and president of Kamaaina Termite and Pest Control, has an extensive criminal history that includes 10 convictions — six for felonies — dating back to 1993.

Would like to know what is on the seized digital video surveilance tape. If it shows and assault as charged than throw the book at him. Don't care for he said, she said or other said situations. The surveilance tape could be the crucial evidence necessary to get to the bottom of this charge.

I think "minority" is in reference to his percentage of ownership. However, you would think that SA would make a distinction in clarity of writing.....

Of course he's going to plead 'not guilty'. He's done so in the past and have gotten away with it.

With all his priors, I hope he will finally smell the inside of Halawa for a few years. My suggestion Miske is make the most of the next month to get your affairs in order. The LC will be waiting for the outcome of the trial. Miske LOVEs publicity, hope you're enjoying it now and all the BIZ you're losing cause now the Cats Outta da Bag. Couldn't have happened to a NICER guy, Auweiigh, and BACHI.

Just curious as to what he will plead for the December incident where he cracked this guy's ribs outside the club? Also curious as to why you are deleting my prior questions about this incident...

He also owns a termite company that has had break-ins in the homes that they had tented. Is this a coincidence or not? Tent the house, send his boys, take goods and reap the rewards. Wouldn't be surprised, he is a bad man.

How's this guy keep a liquor license? He seems to be involved in all the assault charges that occur there. Time for the LC to step up.
