Prosecutors charged today a 55-year-old Waipahu man who allegedly assaulted a police officer on Monday at the Westgate Shopping Center in bank.

Donald Sales was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer in the first-degree and second-degree assault.

His bail was set at $50,000.

Sales allegedly assaulted the police officer when he tried to get information from him.

Sales also allegedly fought with the officers, resisted arrest and damaged bank property, police said.
