Clogged pipe causes sewage spill into Nuuanu Stream

The public is advised to stay out of Nuuanu Stream between River Street and Honolulu Harbow due to a wastewater discharge Thursday night.
An estimated 4,350 gallons of wastewater entered the stream through a storm drain because a pipe became clogged with rags and grease, according to the Department of Health.
Officials said warning signs will be posted and water sampling will be performed, but the public is advised to avoid the area until the signs are removed.
