New Jersey governor orders gas rationing in some counties

By Associated Press

LAST UPDATED: 07:56 a.m. HST, Nov 03, 2012

TRENTON, N.J. » Motorists in 12 northern New Jersey counties will be allowed to buy gasoline just every other day under an order by Gov. Chris Christie that takes effect at noon today.

Christie says he made the order late Friday to prevent a fuel shortage in the state hard-hit by Superstorm Sandy. He says he wants to ease the problem of extended wait times and long lines at gas stations.

Many gas stations were forced to close because of a lack of electricity or gasoline, causing those still open to be overburdened with scores of additional customers.

Drivers with license plates ending in an even number will be able to buy gas on even-numbered days, and those with plates ending in an odd number can make gas purchases on odd-numbered days.

Get ready for license plate harvesting. This is so sad for these people. Life in crisis. How do we just stop the craziness until we can start up again? Hope Hawaii is taking notes for it comes our way because it will. Just remember how it was for Kauai. Fixing my bicycle.

should have anticipated and had generators trucked in. where is the military? New jersey is part of the mainland - necessities can be trucked in. people in Hawaii would have filled up with gas, batteries, spam, and toilet paper...

Looking at Christie I'd guess he never orders food rationing.
