A pipe blockage at McCully Shopping Center on Sunday resulted in 65 gallons of wastewater being dumped into a storm drain that empties into Makiki Stream.

Dale Mikami, spokesman for the Department of Health clean water branch, said although this is not a city wastewater spill, city crews are assisting in the cleanup.

The public is advised to stay out of the waters of Makiki Stream below Lime Street, and Ala Wai Canal near the Kalakaua Street bridge until the warning signs are removed, Mikami added.

An estimated 1,430 gallons of wastewater was discharged from the shopping center, with 65 gallon entering into a nearby storm drain on Pumehana Street, which empties into Makiki Stream below Lime Street.
