Man, 20, arrested for allegedly stealing friend's purse

A 20-year-old homeless man was arrested Monday after he allegedly stole a purse of female friend at Aala Park.

Police said the suspect ran into the 19-year-old woman at the park at 8:15 p.m. and asked her for a cigarette. When she refused the suspect grabbed her purse. During the struggle, the suspect allegedly shoved the woman and then fled on a bike. He was stopped at River and North Beretania streets and arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
