POSTED:

University of Hawaii senior Kaia Parnaby was named the Big West Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week today for her performances in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational.

Parnaby earned five complete-game victories, including two on Sunday, and posted a 0.80 earned run average over the week. She posted 40 strikeouts and seven walks in 35 innings and was named the tournament's most valuable pitcher.

Parnaby (11-2, 1.28) closed the weekend by allowing one unearned run in wins over Memphis and Western Kentucky on Sunday to help the Rainbow Wahine (13-5) claim the tournament title. She struck out 15 and walked one in while giving up eight hits in 14 innings.

The Big West award is Parnaby's second of the season.

Long Beach State's Darian Tautalafua (.545, 12 RBIs, three home runs) was named the Big West Field Player of the Week.
