Rescuers will resume a search Wednesday for a missing man who was swept into the ocean by a rogue wave on Kauai.

Police have identified him as Phua Chuan Chin, 62, of the Republic of Singapore.

Rescuers aboard Air 1 and the Coast Guard conducted an aerial search today for Chin from Waikoko to the Kilauea Lighthouse but were unable to locate him. Additional rescuers on jet skis also searched the ocean waters around Kalihiwai Bay.

Police canvassed the shoreline where Chin was swept into the ocean by a rogue wave Monday. At about 11:30 a.m., Chin and three other individuals were walking along a rocky shoreline near Kalihiwai Point when he and another man were swept into the ocean by a powerful wave, according to a news release by the Kauai Fire Department.

The second man, 47, was able to swim back to shore and was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries.
