Police: Man used Facebook, free cakes to lure teen

SLIDELL, La. » Slidell police say a 41-year-old man allegedly used a bakery Facebook page and free cakes to lure a 15-year-old girl into a sexual relationship, and now they're asking local parents to check and see if he is among their children's Facebook friends.

Wilmer Segue of Slidell is being held on charges of stalking and seven counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, Detective Daniel Seuzeneau said today. Segue's bond is set at $175,000.

Seuzeneau, a police spokesman, said Segue apparently sold home-baked pastries and also used them to gain the girl's confidence.

"He offered her free pastries and a birthday cake and things like that. Kind of built a trust," Seuzeneau said in an interview.

He said "J's Cakes N More" became Facebook friends with the 15-year-old in January. She and Segue met in person after several online conversations and eventually began a sexual relationship, he said.

When the girl's mother intercepted some of their messages, she called police and cut all communication with Segue.

The stalking charge was brought because Segue began waiting outside her school, watching her leave on the school bus and repeatedly driving in front of her house in hope of seeing the girl, he wrote.

He was arrested Thursday in front of her house.

"Slidell Police fear that there may be more victims and ask parents to check their children's Facebook account for a friend by the name of 'J's Cakes N More,'" the police news release said. If they find it, they're asked to contact Detective Brian Brown at 985-646-4362 or bbrown(at)slidellpd.com.

Most of the friends on that page appear to be young women, and several list area high schools with their names.

"We have two calls from parents that found him to be friends with their children on Facebook," Seuzeneau said today. "We're going to be looking into that a little further to see whether anything further occurred."

Seuzeneau said he didn't know whether Segue had a business license.

It was not clear whether he has an attorney.
