Woman in serious condition following Makiki crash

A 61-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition this morning after the small sports utility vehicle she was driving was struck at a Makiki intersection.

Emergency Medical Services said the accident occurred at 7:10 a.m. at Piikoi and Young streets near the 7-Eleven store. The intersection was closed for about half an hour while police investigated the accident.

I'd be willing to bet her car was struck by someone trying beat the red light. "Get there-itis" and a "it's all about me" outlook usually leads to someone innocent getting hurt.
