A man and a woman remain in stable condition at Wilcox Hospital following a head-on collision Thursday night on Kaumualii Highway fronting Kauai Humane Society.

Kauai police said the collision occurred at about 6:50 p.m. when an eastbound sedan, driven by a 36-year-old female driver, crossed the center line and hit an oncoming pickup truck head-on.

Both the 36-year-old female driver of the sedan and the 69-year-old driver of the pickup were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The highway was closed for 30 minutes to allow the vehicles to be towed from the scene.

A head on collision with serious injuries and the road was closed for 30 minutes? Maybe H.P.D. should go to Kaua'i for instruction!
