A 29-year-old homeless man was arrested Sunday night for allegedly stealing items from five cars in Kalihi.

The suspect was caught sleeping in a car just after 6 a.m. Sunday and left. When the 46-year-old owner of the car realized that he and his neighbor were targets of a break-in, he called police.

Police located the suspect and arrested him and later linked him to three other thefts from cars because the suspect either had items from the theft or had left his own personal belongings at the scene of the break-ins. The suspected was arrested on suspicion of five counts of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
