Dog that disappeared in Kansas found in California

By Associated Press

POSTED:

SAN DIEGO >> A family in Kansas is awaiting the return of their dog Rascal, who was found running loose last week in San Diego.

The Los Angeles Times reports the 13-month-old Jack Russell terrier mix disappeared over Thanksgiving from a home in Oswego, Kansas, where he lived with Ty and Nikki Lewis and their children, ages 7 and 9.

It's a mystery how Rascal ended up in Southern California.

The San Diego County Department of Animal Services says the dog was found by a good Samaritan in the Kearny Mesa area. Rascal was still wearing his tag, with the phone number of a veterinarian in Kansas. A call was made to the vet and arrangements were made to send Rascal home.

The Foundation for the Care of Indigent Animals will pay for a flight for Rascal on Saturday.

I think it's an interesting story... Would be interesting to know how the little dog ended up in California. If he was stolen it seems that the person or persons involved with the theft would have removed his collar with his identification.

What I noticed is that a non-profit is paying to get them back their Jack Russell. Why? And, if these folks are on public assistance how did they buy that Jack Russell? Lots of questions unanswered, like who is the Editor in charge of sending this unfinished, poorly written, article to press?
