WASHINGTON » President Barack Obama has returned to Washington after a winter vacation in Hawaii that was interrupted by the "fiscal cliff" crisis.

Obama arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland this morning after an overnight flight.

The president's annual end-of-year visit to his native state was disrupted just after Christmas when he was forced to return to the capital to help broker a solution on a plan to avert a combination of tax increases and spending cuts that could have plunged the economy back into recession.

He returned to Hawaii on New Year's Day.

Obama faces a full agenda in Washington, including possible appointments of a new defense secretary and CIA director and a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

They've wised up. The Federal Reserve is now buying 90% of the long term US Treasury Bonds. In effect, we're just printing up more money to loan to the government.

WOW, you're right that it has cost us the taxpayers over $20 million dollars for the Obamas to vacation in Hawaii. The source is from a White House reporter. From the article, " ... The second roundtrip flight added about $3.24 million to the tab ... "

How much did Obama add to the 16.5 TRILLION naitonal debt with that three day return trip back to Hawaii? "Let them eat cake."

If Obama was smart, he would have used Cisco Telepresence or at the least Skype to broker the deal. Talk about waiting until the last minute to file your Income Tax Returns. Some of us are honest enough to report all our Capital Gains, and even if we run into some financial difficulty, we still pay Uncle Sam in a timely manner. Barry please do not add to our National Debt just because u want to sleep on Air Force One lol.

The republicans are getting weaker and more radical with each election... they should lose Congress in two years and then we can get all the vital work done... and in the meantime don't give them anything.

The break down was 47 percent voted R and 53 percent voted for Barry. How does that translate to weakness? Looks pretty close and when you factor in the folks from down under who migrated to the great, err, formerly great US of A, it makes you wonder what is going on. Me, I'm heading downtown to get either a better paying government job or a big foundation grant - see you later, suckers......

Republicans don't need to DO anything except LET the Democrats have what they asked for. All of it. Just don't come running to Republicans to FIX it afterwards. i.e. Jimmy Carter to Ronald Reagan.

wrong it will get worse if the republicans lose the house remember when Obama won the presidential election in 2008 he had 2 years of control in the house and senate and all they did was spend us into higher deficit. so stop making a dumb comment like we can get vital work done. because with dumbocrats controlling the house and senate spending will get worse.

Next time come visit the Westside or the island Mr. President. This side could use some federal spending. Plenty money spent to make the wealthier areas look so nice. Our schools falling apart and the road so out of shape. Kids don't even have a side walk to walk to school. Go see Maili Elementary school. One of the plenty over here so out of shape. No one seems to care for the westside.

It's amazing how many people blindly like Obama. From USAToday, just a short version of an article. Obama routinely makes web videos for his followers. "Obama boasts that "middle-class families" will not have to "pay upwards of $2,000 more in taxes this year." That's accurate for income taxes, but Obama doesn't mention that the deal allowed a payroll tax cut to expire. About 77% of taxpayers will pay more in taxes this year ..." "Obama says the agreement "will reduce the deficit." In fact, the deficit will increase by about $4 trillion over the next 10 years ..." Blah, blah. And yes, the republicans also stretch the truth or don't tell the whole story. So if you want the facts, go to a neutral source.
