Fire near old Kekaha mill destroys shipping containers, vehicle

Two Matson containers and a vehicle near the old Kekaha Sugar Mill were destroyed in a fire that occurred Monday night.
Firefighters responded to the fire along Kekaha Road that occurred at about 11:07 p.m. The blaze was extinguished within a half-hour, according to a news release by the Kauai Fire Department.
Damage to the containers, vehicle and other miscellaneous items on property across from the sugar mill were estimated at $300,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
