Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell patches a pothole after announcing that the city will step up pothole fixes.

Mayor Kirk Caldwell patched potholes on Gulick Avenue this morning, reiterating his campaign promise to make fixing potholes a priority in his administration.

Caldwell said that after heavy rains, Facility Maintenance Director Ross Sasamura will beef up regular pothole crews with additional road personnel to fill as many holes as possible.

The public can help by calling the city’s new pothole hotline at 768-7777, or fill out an onine form that can be found at http://www1.honolulu.gov/dfm/road/pothole.htm.

Caldwell was sworn-in as Honolulu’s 14th mayor on Jan. 2.
