The outage started at 9:30 p.m. and ended just about 10 p.m. after HECO switched over to a backup circuit, said spokesman Darren Pai.
About 4,500 HECO customers were affected by the outage, which included residential as well as commercial customers, Pai said.
Troubleshooters were working on the determining the problem tonight.
