The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management says a quarterly report was filed this month in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Health’s consent decree to prevent or minimize waste-water spills on the island.

In the late 1990s, the EPA and Health Department filed lawsuits, and Maui County agreed to a consent decree requiring reports on efforts taken to prevent the spills.

Quarterly Report No. 54 and previous reports are available for public inspection and copying at the Department of Environmental Management, Wastewater Reclamation Division office, 2200 Main St., Suite 610, Wailuku. The current report is also available on the County of Maui website at www.mauicounty.gov/wastewater select “Current Wastewater Reports and Notifications.”
