A brush fire that burned 30 acres and threatened two homes near Anahola Beach Park is now under control, the Kauai Fire Department reports.

The fire broke out on the makai side of Kukuihale Road just before 4 p.m. It was brought under control at 6:30 p.m. and extinguished at 7:30 p.m., a Kauai County spokeswoman said.

The Kauai Police Department closed Kukuihale Road at Pilipoli Road, and Mana I Road at Anahola Road until the blaze was extinguished. The roads are now open.

The fire department will continue to monitor the scene for hot spots.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. No property damage or injuries were reported.
