Firefighters assist boaters after vessel runs aground near Magic Island

Honolulu fire rescue personnel assisted two boaters after their vessel ran aground on a reef near Magic Island.

The 36-foot boat hit the reef about 6:50 p.m. Honolulu Fire Department rescue workers airlifted the two stranded boaters off the vessel and brought them to safety around 7:30 p.m.

Neither boater was injured. The vessel remains stuck on the reef.
