Hawaii County police have charged a 23-year-old Hilo woman in connection with the armed robbery of a Keawe Street business Thursday.

Tia Menino is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree terroristic threatening, use of a firearm in commission of a separate felony, third-degree theft, two counts of fourth-degree theft, and three firearms violations.

According to police, Menino robbed a 33-year-old clerk at gunpoint at the combined Rainbow-Jo and Tiny Bubbles boutique location in Hilo.

Menino took an undisclosed amount of cash then fled in a white pickup, police said. However, the clerk was able to photograph the truck and its license plate and Menino was later located and arrested as she drove along Makaala Street in the Hilo industrial area.

Menino remains in custody in lieu of $28,750 bail. Her initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
