The woman killed in a three-car crash on Farrington Highway near Kahe power plant has been identified as Margaret Lavin, 34, of Mililani, the city Department of Medical Examiner has confirmed.
Seven other people were hospitalized following the crash near the Nanakuli surfing spot known as "Tracks" at about 8:22 p.m. Sunday.
Police said that Lavin was traveling east on Farrington Highway near the Kahe power station when she crossed median and sideswiped a car traveling west. The two occupants of that car, a woman from Waianae and a female child, were uninjured.
The Mililani woman then hit a car head-on and then was ejected from her car and was killed, police said.
The seven people in the third car were taken to the hospital in serious condition — three 30-year-old women; one 49-year-old woman; a 28-year-old man; a 10-year-old boy; and a 4-year-old girl.
All have since been released, police said.
It is unknown at this point if speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, police said.
The fatality was Oahu's 11th of the year, compared with 8 at the same time in 2012.
On Jan. 4, 60-year-old Kent Bowman was killed when a pickup truck hit him on Farrington Highway near Kahe Power Plant nearby in front of Kahe Point Beach Park.
