Allegiant Air’s flight attendants based in Honolulu will be getting health care coverage after all.

Transport Workers Union Local 577, which represents more than 600 flight attendants at the Las Vegas-based carrier, said today that the airline has reversed course and decided to make its flight attendants here full time rather than part time. The change will allow the attendants to receive health care coverage similar to Allegiant’s flight attendants on the company’s mainland bases.

I say they deserved full time benefits form the start. Let us do the math here. The shortest flight between Hawaii and the mainland spans five hours. There's perhaps an hour or so ahead of the flight, and perhaps up to an hour to deplane. That's almost an eight-hour day, folks.
