Hawaii County police are investigating a reported knifepoint robbery at a Hamakua Coast park early this morning.

At 4:54 a.m., police received a report that a 29-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were camping at the Kolekole Beach Park when they were awakened by a male suspect who entered their tent and threatened them with a knife before taking several of their possessions. The suspect also demanded the keys to a rental vehicle parked nearby. The suspect drove away in the white 2012 Ford Mustang coupe, which was found abandoned in the upper Wainaku area.

The suspect was described as  being in his mid 20s, about 5-feet 8-inches tall, weighing 150-160 pounds, fair complexion and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket or hoodie, either a beanie or a hood, and possibly khaki colored pants.

Police ask that anyone with information on the identity of the suspect or may have witnessed this robbery to call Detective Norbert Serrao at 961-2383 or by email at nserrao@co.hawaii.hi.us

more and more of this, and you will see less and less tourists around our islands :( ... so if Gov. Neil Abercrombie will not do anything about having the Police do a better job protecting, he will see less revenue in his budget, and then of course he will find even more Taxes to raise or invent all from scratch, and as usual we'll pay the price.
