High surf warning downgraded to advisory, advisory extended

A high surf advisory is now in effect for the north- and west-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu and Molokai, the north-facing shores of Maui, and the west-facing shores of Hawaii island, the National Weather Service announced.

The advisory, previously a warning in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday, is in effect until 6 a.m. Monday.

Surf along north-facing shores is expected to be12 to 18 feet, while west-facing shore waves will be 8 to 14 feet.

The northwest swell that pushed in is expected to continue to subside throughout the night and lower below advisory levels by the morning, the service said.
