Fire investigators say a fire that engulfed a single-family home in Wahiawa on Sunday morning caused an  estimated $250,000 in damage, Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Terry Seelig said.

The cause of the 9:46 a.m. fire on Koele Way, however, has not yet been determined, Seelig said.

Two men, a father and son, were not home at the time of the fire.

Witnesses said medical oxygen tanks store in the home began exploding, heaving tanks and debris into the air, some as far as several hundred feet down the street. Neighbors reported hearing as many as a dozen explosions. No one was injured.

The home is between California and Olive avenues.
