Some of Hawaii’s favorite radio stations have been sold by Atlanta, Georgia-based Cox Media Group to Summit Media, operating out of Birmingham, Ala.

Current Cox Media Group market managers have been involved in the process, underway for the last several months, and will be key players going forward, according to a statement.

“This is the dream scenario for our Hawaii stations. To be purchased by a company comprised of former Cox Media Group Managers ensures that operations will not be interrupted during the transition and most importantly, staff will remain in place. It also ushers in a new level of local decision making,” said Patti Milburn, vice president and general manager.

The six stations included in the deal are KRTR-FM 96.3, KCCN-FM 100.3, KPHW-FM 104.3, KINE-FM 105.1, KRTR-AM 650 and KKNE-AM 940.
