A woman in her 50s who fell off a horse in Waimanalo was hospitalized in serious condition this evening.

The woman was riding on the Maunawili Ditch Trail behind the Town and Country Stables on the Olomana Golf Course side of Waimanalo Valley when the accident occurred shortly before 4:50 p.m., Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig said.

Firefighters hiked into the trail and helped her onto a fire rescue helicopter that picked her up and took her to a landing zone at the golf course, Seelig said.

Personnel from the city Department of Emergency Services then treated her and transported her to the hospital in serious condition. EMS said.
