Autopsies Friday of the two women who were shot and killed in Hilo Monday night showed that each died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

The medical examiner said Elaine Ahu, 74, died from traumatic injuries to the head and brain as a result of a gunshot wound, Hawaii County police said.

An autopsy on her daughter, Rhonda Lynn Alohalani Ahu, 45, showed the same cause of death.

The medical examiner ruled both deaths as homicides.

Rhonda Ahu’s boyfriend, Sean Matsumoto, 34, has been charged with first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder in the case.
