All lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard, between Hobron Lane and Atkinson Drive, have been reopened following repair work by Board of Water Supply crews on a water pipe break that affected traffic leaving Waikiki.

Police had previously closed two Ewa-bound lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard, just past Hobron Lane, following the break at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews had originally thought a 12-inch main had broken, but discovered the break in a 4-inch pipe connected to the main.

Ala Moana Blvd has for the last 25 years become a tourist attraction. I don't a month has gone by when the road has been open for normal traffic. A city worker who started working on the road 25 years ago is getting ready to retire without ever having work on any other road on Oahu. The city just can't get it right
