Honolulu firefighters extinguished a fire that started in a Dumpster stored in the carport of a Hawaii Kai residence Friday evening.
The fire caused an estimated $5,000 to the unattached carport. The house on the lot was being renovated and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Firefighters were called to the Koko Isle Circle home at 5:52 p.m. and had the fire under control in less than 10 minutes, according to Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Carlton Yamada.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
