Nalani Choy, best-known as a member of Hawaii recording artists Na Leo Pilimehana, will join public relations firm Communications Pacific Inc. as a vice president.

Effective Monday, Choy will be primarily involved in marketing and community-building work.

Choy is credited with a great deal of the strategizing, marketing and business management work that has contributed to the trio’s local, national and international success.

She has established and lead NLP Music, the trio’s record label, as well as OneHawaii Music, another record label; and entities that promote concerts by Hawaiian musicians and other cultural programs.

Prior to focusing on the trio's music career, Choy was a Bank of Hawaii assistant vice president who simultaneously managed the bank's Haleiwa and Waialua branches.

If hundreds of people standing in a two hour line for a shrimp burger is news, this qualifies.

There are LOTS of people who work hard and persevere, and give of themselves humbly and without the need for the limelight and audience applause (literally or figuratively). Nalani's situation is "news" only because she happens to be known as part of the singing trio. Of course it's a nice story, but SA you should be digging deep into the community to find "unsung heroes" to write about. Believe me, there are MANY of them.
