Swimmers are being warned not to enter coastal waters on Oahu.
The state Department of Health has issued a Brown Water Advisory for Oahu after last night's heavy rains.
The Health Department said storm runoff could contain water from overflowing cesspools and sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, bacteria, chemicals and flood debris.
The best advice, officials said, is that if the water is brown, stay out.
And yet we spend $5.3 billion for a train to nowhere. We worry about Steven Tyler's privacy. We want to build more hotels on the sand. 29 new Kaka'ako condos get permitted without infrastructure upgrades.
Where are our priorities? Dead animals and fecal matter infect our waters because of a little rain? Overflowing cesspools - is that the best we can do? And why do we still pump our poo in to the ocean?
