Man arrested after woman found critically injured on highway

Paramedics took a 33-year-old woman, found with critical injuries on Kamehameha Highway, to the hospital overnight, the city's Emergency Medical Services Division reported.

The woman was found in the middle of the highway near Whitmore Avenue in Wahiawa, paramedics said.

The ambulance call appears to be connected to the arrest of a 39-year-old Wahiawa man, who allegedly assaulted a 33-year-old woman while in a vehicle at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Officers arrested the man for suspicion of first-degree assault near the same location.
