4 residents flee from fire that destroys Foster Village house

Three adults and two children are homeless after fire destroyed their Foster Village house Wednesday afternoon, but no one was injured.

Damage to single-family house, built in the late 50s, and contents was reported at $350,000, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig. No other homes were damaged,

Four of the five residents were home at the time, and escaped through the back to a nearby park.

Firefighters brought the fire under control at 5:55 p.m. Most of the damage occurred to the front of the house. Two vehicles in the carport were also heavily damaged.

Firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire at 1231 Kukila Place near Bougainville Drive in Foster Village about 5:30 p.m., Seelig said.

Red Cross is responding to the family’s needs.

I'm glad they're okay. It's hard to lose your things - I remember that very well from 'Iniki - but they can be replaced. Those tender lives, though, they are very precious.
