Hawaii surfers Dusty Payne and Carissa Moore claimed the men's and women's titles in large surf at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro in Australia Saturday.

Moore moved up to second in the Women's World Championship Tour rankings to second with her victory over Australian Tyler Wright, the current leader on the tour.

Surf at Margaret River was in the six-foot-plus range Sunday (Saturday Hawaii time).

"I felt good out there.  It was maybe an anticlimactic final with not a lot of waves but I am really stoked to come away with the win," Moore said on the contest website. "Those sets, it was tough to time it, we got swept in by the big waves and we took a beating."

Moore beat reigning world champion Stephanie Gilmore to reach the finals.

Payne beat Australian surfer Josh Kerr in the final.

"This is my first major win so I am stoked," the 24-year-old Maui surfer said on the contest website. "I was injured for most of last year and sat out for six months and watched my friends win events.  It just made me work hard so it is nice to see some results."
