The University of Hawaii softball team completed a series sweep with a 9-3 win at Cal State Northridge Sunday.

The Rainbow Wahine pulled away from the Matadors with a six-run outburst in the fourth inning and claimed the third game of their opening series of the Big West Conference season.

UH pitcher Kaia Parnaby earned the complete-game victory to improve to 23-3.

UH (25-7, 3-0 BWC) went ahead in the first inning when Jessica Iwata drew a bases-loaded walk. Senior Tara Anguiano ignited UH’s rally in the fourth inning with an RBI single to score pinch-runner Kiani Wong.  The Wahine strung together four hits with two out, extending the lead on Kelly Majam’s two-run double, Kayla Wartner’s single, a triple by Keiki Carlos and a double by Iwata.

Leisha Li’ili’i hit her third home run of the series in the sixth inning to give UH an 8-1 lead. Jazmine Zamora then tripled and scored on an illegal pitch.

CSUN (14-21, 0-3) scored single runs in the sixth and seventh before Parnaby closed out the game.

No. 20/23 UH returns home this week for a three-game series against UC Davis starting Friday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
