The University of Hawaii softball team completed a series sweep with a 9-3 win at Cal State Northridge Sunday.

The Rainbow Wahine pulled away from the Matadors with a six-run outburst in the fourth inning and claimed the third game of their opening series of the Big West Conference season.

UH pitcher Kaia Parnaby earned the complete-game victory to improve to 23-3.

UH (25-7, 3-0 BWC) went ahead in the first inning when Jessica Iwata drew a bases-loaded walk. Senior Tara Anguiano ignited UH's rally in the fourth inning with an RBI single to score pinch-runner Kiani Wong.  The Wahine strung together four hits with two out, extending the lead on Kelly Majam's two-run double, Kayla Wartner's single, a triple by Keiki Carlos and a double by Iwata.

Leisha Li'ili'i hit her third home run of the series in the sixth inning to give UH an 8-1 lead. Jazmine Zamora then tripled and scored on an illegal pitch.

CSUN (14-21, 0-3) scored single runs in the sixth and seventh before Parnaby closed out the game.

No. 20/23 UH returns home this week for a three-game series against UC Davis starting Friday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Nice start to the conference season for the team. Anyone know why Coach Coolen was ejected from the game? I was hoping that with the big lead, they would give Kesterson or Carlos a chance to pitch a few innings and rest Parnaby. The freshmen need more game experience in case Parnaby tires.
