Hawaii County authorities have charged a Puna woman with first-degree assault and abuse of a household member following a stabbing Saturday in the Ainaloa Estates subdivision.

Heidi Leialoha Lewis, 45, was being held on $6,000 bail, police said Monday. She was charged Sunday.

Police said Lewis stabbed a 31-year-old Puna man multiple times during a domestic argument. Officers responded to a 5 a.m. call Saturday of a man screaming, and found the man lying on the side of Ainaloa Boulevand with knife wounds to his wrist and abdomen.

He was taken to Hilo Medical Center, then flown Saturday to the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, where he was listed in serious condition.

Police arrested Lewis on Saturday at a home on Hibiscus Street.
