A Kaneohe man died after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on the Likelike Highway overnight.

Police said the roadway was slick from recent rains and speed may have been a factor in the 11:40 p.m. crash.

The man was Kaneohe-bound just before the Wilson tunnel when his motorcycle hit a guard rail and he was ejected onto the road, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics said the man was in his 30s.

Police said it is not known if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The man was wearing a helmet.

Police closed Likelike Highway until about 1 a.m. while they investigated the crash.

His death is the 18th traffic fatality on Oahu roads this year.
