Weekend wave forecast calls for 15-foot surf

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 01:57 a.m. HST, Mar 30, 2013

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the northern shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui, and the north and west shores of Kauai this weekend.

The advisory lasts from 6 a.m. today through 6 p.m. Sunday.

Surf from a large northwest swell is expected to produce wave heights of 10 to 15 feet, forecasters said.

They said beachgoers can expect strong breaking waves, and strong longshore and rip currents, which will make swimming difficult and dangerous.
