Tips lead to capture of 'armed and dangerous' felon

Tips from the public led to the arrest Thursday of a 34-year-old convicted felon, considered armed and dangerous and wanted by police and the state Sheriff Division.

Deputy sheriffs located Richard Kauvaka in Kalihi at 9:05 p.m. Thursday at School and Houghtailing streets after the state urged airlines to be on the lookout for him March 28 because he was reportedly a flight risk and is suspected of serious crimes.

The Department of Public Safety said there is a parole retake warrant for his arrest.

That would be too easy for this creep. He should complete his term and serve time for his current violation. Once he has completed that then he should be deported.

There ought to be a law when a dangerous criminal is on the loose, the public should be informed to be on the alert and if provoked, defend yourself at all times. Hawaii has enough gun owners to sink the islands.
