Two Hawaii high schools vie in Vans Custom Culture contest

Lutheran High School of Hawaii and Moanalua High School are the two Hawaii high schools competing amongst 50 nationwide in the Vans Custom Culture contest in which public voting is now online.

Vans Custom Culture is a nationwide art contest in which students compete to win $50,000 for their school’s art programs.

From today through May 13, the public can go visit the contest website and vote for their favorite designs. The top five schools will be invited to showcase their designs for the judges and the gathered crowd in New York City June 13, the day the grand prize winner will be announced.

Lutheran and Moanalua were among 1,400 schools that registered for the Vans Custom Culture contest, in which each school customized four classic Vans styles, and the two schools survived internal Vans company screening to get to the semifinal 50 schools.

Online voting is limited to one vote per registered site user, according to rules posted on the Vans website.
