The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 42-year-old man whose body was found on Kalanianaole Highway in Waimanalo Friday night as Marc Bucho.

The Medical Examiner found that the cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries, but the manner of death has been deferred pending further investigation.

Police are investigating the case as a possible hit-and-run.

An investigator with the Medical Examiner’s Office said Bucho’s friends reported he was homeless.

Jason Bucho, who lives in Alaska, said his brother, Marc, had been a heavy equipment operator, but because of a medical condition, could not work.

Marc Bucho was born in Idaho, his brother said.

Residents in the area reported hearing a loud thump, but no car brakes being applied.

Wow! Residents hear a large thump. How large was it? I have heard loud thumps but never a large one. It's one thing for newspapers to dumb down their content but another to abuse the English language.

whs, I guess the SA read you and edited the article. Maybe the perp applied his brakes, just not loud enough to screech. So sad that the hitter did not stop to render aid. RIP, Marc. Sad to see you die alone, so far from your home town.
