Prosecutors charged a 19-year-old Kapahulu man in the alleged robbery of six teens Thursday night off Ward Avenue in Honolulu with the help of younger teenage boys.

Richie Michael was charged Satruday with five counts of second-degree robbery, along with four minors, whose names are not released.

Police arrested Michael and the other teens at the Neil S. Blaisdell Center at 10:34 p.m. Thursday.

Police said Michael and four boys, ages 15, 17 and two 16-year-olds, approached a group of six younger teenage boys, ages 14 and 15, and demanded their property.

When they refused, the older teens used force to overcome them, police said.

Police located the suspects a short time later and arrested them on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

Great Police work however no apprehension is complete without conviction and lasting punishment. To include probation, establishment of police record for all offenders, and full compensation to the victims. Compensation = Apologies, financial restitution, and community service. That area on Ward/Kapiolani can use 1-2 months worth of detailed clean-up!

The adult mugger's mugshot should be shown in the news. As for the four younger punks, their names will probably get out and be known in their schools.

Sometimes I wonder if it is necessary to protect the young in this day and age. In my estimation we are a abunch of coddlers who think that our young hoodlums are naive. Wrong, they are very cunning and mean to hurt and maim if you do not accede to their wishes. if they do the crime, treat as a cancer on humanity.

I would bet money that "Richie Michael" is of a certain island ethnicity that is southwest of Hawaii.

19-year-old probably was the ringleader. Tough buggah. Too bad, he probably was the only one spending time in jail, while the boys went home with mommy and daddy.
