Police seek help in finding suspect in Waikiki assault

Honolulu police detectives said they want the public’s help in locating witnesses or the suspect in an assault on a man who was later transported in the hospital in critical condition.

The incident occurred at 5 a.m. Sunday)on Kuhio Avenue near Seaside Avenue.

An unknown man struck the victim who was sitting on the sidewalk fronting 2260 Kuhio Ave., police said.

The alleged assailant, a man about 5-feet 8-inches to 5-feet 10 inches tall and about 160 pounds, was wearing a gray T-shirt, plaid shorts, and black cap.

Anyone with information about the identify of the man or the incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, or *Crime on cell phones.
