Price of gas starting to get cheaper in Hawaii

Of the cities surveyed in the Lower 48 states, Albuquerque, New Mexico, had the lowest price at $3.32 per gallon, and San Francisco had the highest at $4.17.

It’s getting cheaper to fill up the gas tank in Hawaii, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.

The state average for regular unleaded is $4.34 a gallon, two cents cheaper than last week, four cents less than last month and 24 cents lower than this time last year.

Honolulu drivers paid three cents less per gallon this week than last week. The price has dropped seven cents in a month and is 20 cents cheaper than last year.

Hilo’s average gas price of $4.34 per gallon also dropped three cents in a week and is 39 cents cheaper than last year. Wailuku’s  average of $4.51 a gallon is unchanged from last week, but is 38 cents cheaper than last year at this time.

The Associated Press reports the national average for a gallon of regular was $3.53 on Thursday, up a penny from Wednesday. It’s about 28 cents lower than a year ago.
