By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 02:09 a.m. HST, May 06, 2013

A 16-year-old boy was critically injured in a skateboarding accident Sunday.

The incident happened about 2:52 p.m. near 94-1040 Lumikula St. in Waipahu.

Additional details on the boy's injuries were not immediately available.

It's at least the second serious skateboarding accident within a month on Oahu.

A 16-year-old boy died April 17 in a skateboarding accident in Hawaii Kai. The boy was on a skateboard being towed by a moped, lost his balance, fell and hit his head on the pavement.

The teen went by ambulance in critical condition to a hospital, where he died.

allie - Right, lets ban every dangerous, noisy sport like motorcycle/moped riding, surfing, on and on. Get real. Life is filled with challenges we accept when we enjoy a sport.

aomohoa that's what I meant when I said I had an "ALL-LIE moment". You know...disorientation, inability to comprehend the written word, etc.... It's frightening to get so out of wack. :)

Another report said family members told them nobody saw him fall, but they believe he was riding down a hill on wet conditions. He was not wearing a helmet. Hope he recovers fully, soon.

He was not wearing a helmet according to HawaiiNewsNow. Also, there were no witnesses to his falling. SA needs to do better follow ups.

Agree with you on SA follow ups. That's why I check out all the other news sites to see if I can get more info. A lot of times there's misinformation or lack of, so, I go with majority of the 4 sites. You would think each one would have full and accurate, but they don't.
