A 41-year-old surfer was seriously injured around 1 p.m. Sunday in waters off of Ala Moana Beach Park while he was waiting to catch a wave, Emergency Medical Services said.

Two surfers assisted the man while a third called 911 on a cell phone he had with him in the water, EMS said.

Ocean Safety Department officials transported the injured man to shore via the department’s watercraft, officials said.

Paramedics treated him on shore before transferring him to the trauma center in serious condition.

Yeah, how do you get hurt waiting for a wave? Did he pass out, get hit by a wave, ???? Get specific on it. As surfers we want to know, especially because this is a small and tight community.

I almost didn't click on this story, suspecting there would be no name, no details, no acts, and no story. My suspicions were sadly correct.
